Three picnic areas and a campground are located along the canyon rim overlooking Angel Peak and the Kutz Canyon badlands. Three picnic areas (Sage, Castle Rock, and Cliffs), containing seven developed sites, are located along the rim road. Each site has a shelter, tables on a concrete underfoot, a gravel pathway, and a fire grate. Trash cans are located in all three picnic areas. Accessible vault toilets are available at both Sage and Cliffs picnic areas.
Angel Peak Campground has nine sites available for tent camping; each with picnic tables on a concrete underfoot, gravel pathways, and fire grates. Picnic shelters are located at three campsites; two with single shelters and one with a double shelter suitable for larger groups. Two accessible vault toilets and trash receptacles are conveniently located in the campground. A short nature trail winds among the plants that have found a niche along the desolate rim and leads to an overlook of the canyon where a bench is provided for relaxing and enjoying the view.
No electrical hookups or water is available.
Yankeeland is a great place to camp and for a great price! I’ve now been there twice this season. The owners are super nice and the staff is very friendly.
They guided me into my campsite and let me borrow an electric cord because mine was a bit short. The sites are spacious for the most part. There is a well maintained pool, two playgrounds, a basketball court, bocce ball court, and volleyball net. It’s a great family campground and there are people of all ages, from retired to those with young families. Everyone is friendly and you will always get a “hello” when you walk by someone. The office/store, sells ice and firewood, along with some snacks and candy.
There is a small game room with a handful of arcade games. Some Saturday nights they play a movie at the pavilion and have popcorn. My only complaint is that people drive too fast through the campground. Kennebunkport is a short drive away with restaurants and shops.
Gooches beach is in Kennebunk, you can pay at a kiosk to park. Drive a bit north or a bit south and you will find a great resuaturant or an activity for the kids. We had spent 8 nights in July the past two summers and have already booked for this coming summer.
Rates are very affordable especially compared to most campgrounds in the surrounding areas. The owners and staff are very friendly. The location is great and only about 10 minutes from our favorite beach and many others. We enjoy going to Ogunquit, Wells, Kennebunkport, Cabela's in Scarborough, and Freeport and this location is in between and perfect for us. We recommended this campground to family and friends who then camped here as well and now camp here as well. There are lots of seasonal sites and the residents have all been very friendly. We have had no issues with loud noise either which is nice.
The pool and two playgrounds were nice for my daughter. We definitely plan on coming here every summer. When we went to leave this past summer we realized that the brakes in our truck had gone, I went to the office about an hour before we were supposed to check out to let them know the situation and that my husband had to go into town (another friendly camper gave him a ride to the parts store) to get a new brake line and other parts to fix it and then fix it.
